October Theme Day: SHELTER

The picnic shelters at Paul Grist State Park have shaded many people,
both at picnics or just to sit and enjoy the lake and playground.

Unfortunately, the park, also with four others in Alabama
that have been deemed unprofitable, will close by Oct. 15 due to budget cuts.

Located in the "panhandle" of Dallas County, the park is not easily accessible
from a major highway, but it surely is a respite for those who like
to "get away from it all." We have swam, picnicked and hiked here,
not to mention the many photography opportunities!

The park also once served as the site of the Grist YMCA Camp.

"Unprofitable." How does one put a price tag on places of respite and relaxation? A lovely shot!
