T is for TRIP to Selma

Over 90 6th and 7th graders from KIPP Liberation College Prep School in Houston
arrived at Brown Chapel AME Church on Tuesday afternoon as the first stop
in the Southern Civil Rights tour. Joyce O'Neal and Dianne Harris,
both student foot soldiers, shared their experiences and songs of the movement.
The students' TRIP was delayed by the intense flooding in Houston.

Thanks to guest photographer Christine Weerts!

Such a pity that there was a flood. I hope that you won't be affectedby it. The weather is so unpredictable nowadays everywhere in the world.

I am glad they made it for this wonderful tour -- history learned from those who actually lived it should make a great impression on these kids. (It did for me and I was middle-aged when I visited.)
